Mixing
No. The purpose of RRS is not to be used as part of structural concrete. RRS is suitable to be used as part of finishing materials such as plaster and screed.
Technically, it is possible, but we do not recommend it. Pure cement, when used as a smooth finishing layer without filler (sand), has a tendency to develop spiderweb-like hairline cracks.
Although it is possible, we do not recommend it. The reason is that manufacturers of instant plaster add into the product chemical additives (polymers), which may negatively affect the functionality of RRS.
Just as in the case of instant (premix) plaster, it is possible, but we do not recommend it. The reason is that manufacturers of instant skim coat add into the product chemical additives (polymers), which may negatively affect the functionality of RRS.
If there is no access to the exterior wall and the interior wall is the only option to apply RRS plaster, there is a high possibility of certain negative water pressure when water builds up inside the wall. When RRS plaster is applied on the exterior side of the wall, it is exposed to rain, which does not create water pressure but runs down the wall.
Application
The safest method is to always apply RRS plaster directly on bricks and RRS screed directly on concrete. Even if existing plaster or screed is in good condition, in the event that existing plaster or screed disconnects from substrate or cracks, it will affect RRS plaster or screed.
Yes, RRS plaster can be smoothed with a skim coat and painted, or painted directly. We recommend letting the RRS plaster cure for at least 2 weeks before painting.
After RRS plaster is applied, waterproof paint is not needed anymore. RRS plaster may remain exposed without any paint (for example, on side walls), or it can be painted with interior paint, exterior paint, or even waterproof paint. RRS plaster remains permanently dry and extends the lifespan of the paint.
Check the depth of hairline crack by scratching with a screwdriver and cleaning with water. If hairline crack is 2-4 mm deep and the thickness of RRS plaster is 10–20 mm, it does not affect the functionality of RRS plaster. To prevent hairline cracks completely, we recommend to use fiberglass mesh.
Other
RRS uses physical principles. It allows RRS plaster to prevent water penetration while remaining breathable at the same time with open pores.
Waterproofing products (various types of membranes, paints, coatings, sealers, etc.) use chemical principles to seal the pores of concrete, plaster, or screed. By sealing the pores, water is trapped inside the building structure and eventually it will damage the waterproofing layer from inside.
You can check in which countries is RRS available at the moment and where to order RRS in each country here.
The key raw material of RRS is manufactured in our factory in Slovakia. We export the raw material to Vietnam, where RRS is manufactured in our automatic dry-mix factory located in Quang Nam province, Vietnam.
At the moment, we provide application service in Brunei and Vietnam. Please contact us for more information.
We guarantee the production quality of each RRS bag. We do not guarantee a result once RRS plaster is applied because we have no control over the mixing and application process. However, if you follow mixing and application procedures , you may expect excellent results.
RRS technology has been proven and tested for +20 years in European conditions and +10 years in Southeast Asian conditions.
